Project Summary
This project involved replacement of an old sewage treatment plant and damaged drain field at a private house in Sutton, West Sussex. The efficiency of the system had been compromised and, in conjunction with an outlet which ran to a running ditch, it did not comply with 2020 regulations.
Following a thorough inspection, we found the connecting pipework to be in good condition and we would be able to install the new sewage treatment plant and drain field close to the old system. Minimising disruption to the client and garden.
We recommended a 9 person Biocell system, providing the client with the required upgrade in capacity. The entire system was installed within 5 days, including final landscaping. The new drainage field was constructed using the correct specification, materials, and construction method to ensure the system is fully compliant with the 2020 “General Binding Rules”.
Project Challenges
This STP replacement project was relatively straight forward. The ideal position for the new Biocell STP was next to the old system and a new area of paving, which we were careful to protect. Having established that the connecting pipework to the existing system was in good condition, we knew that we could instal the new STP close the old system. This proved to be the ideal location for the new drain field and saved the client time and cost.
