Our Service for customers in Surrey & West Sussex
The process starts with a free site survey where we will determine the best type of home sewage treatment plant for your needs and suggest a design for your new system. Following a survey, we provide a comprehensive works plan for supplying and installing your new treatment plant and drainage solution, including any emptying and decommissioning work required for your old system.
Our experienced engineers will manage your project to the highest technical standards. We are approved installers of Biocell and ClenViro Matrix sewage treatment plants, but have extensive experience installing septic tanks from many brands. Projects vary in complexity, but we typically complete a turnkey sewage treatment plant installation in 7 to 10 days. CESS only supply and install sewage treatment plants that are certified by British Water and comply with the current British standard BS EN 12566-1.

Frequently Asked Questions
A sewage treatment plant is a modern, efficient sewage and wastewater management system. It works by separating waste matter and cleaning the wastewater. The cleaned water can then be safely and legally disbursed via a drainage field or, with a permit, into a natural water course. Sewage treatment plants are the only type of off-mains sewage system that will comply fully with 2020 “general binding” regulations.
As of January 2020, discharging wastewater from a septic tank into the environment is now illegal unless it complies with the latest legislation. Known as the “general binding rules”, these new laws are designed to stop untreated grey water from polluting Britain’s watercourses. Septic tanks, installed prior to 2014, are classed as “existing discharge” and are likely to require upgrading or replacement with a modern sewage treatment plant and should be inspected as soon as possible.
Compliant sewage treatment systems should meet British Standard BS EN 12566-1, and be certified by British Water , while drainage fields should conform to British Standard BS 6297:2007.
All new domestic sewage treatment plants should conform to British Standard BS EN 12566. A comprehensive list of certified sewage treatment plants can be viewed on the British Water website. Drainage fields connected to new sewage treatment plants must comply with British Standard BS 6297:2007.
Unlike traditional cesspits and septic tanks, sewage treatment plants can operate for a year or more without needing to be emptied, significantly reducing running costs compared to a traditional septic tank. They are also much kinder to the environment, cleaning wastewater to a standard that can be safely released into the ground or watercourse.
